Wonderwall

Today is gonna be the day
That they’re gonna throw it back to you
By now you should’ve somehow
Realised what you gotta do
I don’t believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now
show

Backbeat the word is on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I’m sure you’ve heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don’t believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now
show

And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
I don’t know how
show

Maybe
You’re gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all
You’re my wonderwall

The rate of diabetes in the USA has almost doubled in the past decade. This is according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP).

show

A spokesperson for the centre said there was now an epidemic in America. There were 9.1 new cases per 1,000 people between 2005 and 2007. This is an increase from 4.8 per 1,000 between 1995 and 1997.

show

Experts say that one of the biggest reasons for the rise in diabetes is the increasing levels of obesity. Americans are eating more fast food and getting less exercise.

show

This is a recipe for disaster and the exact conditions that lead to diabetes. The American Diabetes Association said 23.6 million American children and adults have diabetes. This is about eight per cent of the population.

show

Experts say the disease is becoming a silent killer. It is also causing a great strain on America’s health service. The only way for America to control the escalating levels of diabetes is through educating people about the dangers of the disease.

show

A CDCP spokeswoman, Karen Kirtland, told the Reuters news agency: “The hope and the message is that if people are kind of changing their lifestyles, doing the things that are good for them, then hopefully we can reverse the trend.”

show

Many other studies suggest Americans are not leading healthier lifestyles. A diabetes specialist warned the numbers of new cases would continue to rise sharply because Americans showed no signs of changing their eating and exercise habits.

Dear Jock
show

First I would like to express how delighted I was to receive your e mail, it brought back fond memories of the wonderful time we had here in Malaga last year. There is no need to thank me, it was a pleasure.
show

Now it is my turn to thank you for your kind invitation to speak at your conference. I would consider it an honour to be able to present some of the fascinating developments we have made here in the Andalusian Public Health System in the field of eLearning.
show

The date you propose would suit me very well as I have no other pressing engagements at that time.
show

Obviously there is the matter of fees and expenses to discuss before we finally confirm matters. I will forward an estimate of my charges next week but don’t worry, they won’t be too exorbitant.
show

I look forward to seeing you at the conference but I hope we will speak before then.

Regards

The world now eats (and dies) like Americans

Dr. Dean Ornish: The world now eats (and dies) like Americans
show

With all the legitimate concerns about AIDS and avian flu, and we’ll hear about that from the brilliant Dr. Brilliant later today, I want to talk about the other pandemic, which is cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension- all of which are completely preventable for at least 95% of people, just by changing diet and lifestyle.

show

And what’s happening is that there’s a globalization of illness occurring, that people are starting to eat like us, and live like us, and die like us. And in one generation, for example, Asia’s gone from having one of the lowest rates of heart disease, and obesity, and diabetes, to one of the highest. And in Africa, cardiovascular disease equals the HIV and AIDS deaths in most countries.

show

So there’s a critical window of opportunity we have to make an important difference that can affect the lives of literally millions of people, and practise preventive medicine on a global scale.

show

Heart and blood vessel diseases still kill more people, not only in this country, but also worldwide, than everything else combined and yet it’s completely preventable for almost everybody. It’s not only preventable, it’s actually reversible. And for the last almost 29 years,

show

We’ve been able to show that by simply changing diet and lifestyle, using these very high tech, expensive, state-of-the-art measures to prove how powerful these very simple and low tech and low cost interventions can be like. Quantitative arteriography, before and after a year, and cardiac PET scans

show

We showed a few months ago, we published the first study showing you can actually stop or reverse the progression of prostate cancer by making changes in diet and lifestyle- and 70% regression in the tumor growth, or inhibition of the tumor growth, compared to only 9% in the control group.

And in the MRI and MR spectroscopy here, the prostate tumor activity is shown in red, you can see it diminishing after a year.

show

Now there is an epidemic of obesity. Two thirds of adults and 15% of kids. What’s really concerning to me is that diabetes has increased 70% in the past 10 years, and this may be the first generation in which our kids live a shorter life span than we do. That’s pitiful, and it’s preventable.

show

Now these are not election returns, these are the people- the number of the people who are obese by state, beginning in ‘85, ‘86, ‘87- These are from the CDC website-

-’88, ‘89, ‘90, ‘91- you get a new category- ‘92, ‘93, ‘94, ‘95, ‘96, ‘97, ‘98, ‘99, 2000, 2001- it gets worse. We’re kind of devolving:

show

Now what can we do about this? Well, you know, the diet that we’ve found that can reverse heart disease and cancer is an Asian diet.

But the people in Asia are starting to eat like we are, which is why they’re starting to get sick like we are.

show

So I’ve been working with a lot of the big food companies, they can make it fun, and sexy, and hip, and crunchy, and convenient to eat healthier foods, like- I chair the advisory boards to McDonald’s, and PepsiCo, and Conagra, and Safeway, and soon Del Monte- and they’re finding that it’s good business.

show

The salads that you see at McDonald’s came from the work, they’re going to have an Asian salad, at Pepsi, two thirds of their revenue growth came from their better foods.

show

And so if we can do that, then we can free up resources for buying drugs that you really do need for treating AIDS and HIV and malaria and for preventing avian flu. Thank you.

Candela

show

When Manolo met Candela, he fell in love, but he didn’t want to leave his wife. Candela also had a husband. Manolo proposed that he and Candela should lead a double life. Candela and Manolo were loose people. They liked open relationships. They met every Monday, because Monday was her day off.

Candela and Manolo had a son and a daughter (twins).
The children lived with Candela. Candela’s husband thought that they were the fruit of their love.

One day Candela’s husband began to suspect the relationship because the twins grew beards. Also, he thought that Candela was different in bed. He realized that the taxi used a lot of petrol on Mondays.

He decided he needed a woman or maybe a man. Then he thought his best idea was to go to a monastery. He needed to walk in the cloister and think about this. He knew the Pryor and he loved him. He fell in love. It was a spiritual love.

They made a plan to take revenge on Candela. They studied a way to make her confess. They put a gun to her head. But the gun was empty.

Candela ran away to Brazil with the children. She took on another personality with the federal bureau. The End

Maria: Hello Justin, I’m happy to see you again.

Manolo: Again? By the way, hello.

Maria: Yes because … How are you Justin?, what are you doing here?

Justin: I’m fine. I’m recording my new single “I love you Maria”

Manolo: What did you say?

Justin: Ohh no!, it’s only the name of the song. My childhood pet was named Maria and I still remember her…

ET’s only daughter, Maria, is married to Manolo. ET would prefer another profession for his son-in-law, that would earn more money, such as director of a private clinic or becoming an aesthetic surgeon.

Manolo asks ET for money to buy “Viagra” pills. Manolo tries to convince his father-in-law to give him the money for the sake of Maria’s happiness. ET wants the best for his daughter and although he thinks Manolo is a feather-brain, he gives him the money.

ET tells Maria that Manolo has asked him for money to buy “Viagra” pills and she gets upset. Maria starts sobbing and gets depressed. Maria tells her father she suspects that Manolo will use those pills with other women.

Maria decides to make Manolo suffer by changing the “Viagra” pills for laxatives. She enjoys imagining the situation.
