To make the conference as comfortable as possible for you, we have organised transport between the hotel and CMAT (location of the seminar). A bus service will be available at the hotel entrance at 8:30 am on Monday 12^th November and at 9:30 am on Tuesday 13^th.

There will also be transport available to the restaurant where we will be having the welcoming dinner on Sunday 11^th and again to dinner on Monday 12^th. The bus will leave from the hotel entrance on Sunday at 21:45 and will leave from the same place on Monday 12^th at 21:15.

I participated last September in a seminar about Health Policy Innovation and I was impressed at your interesting conference on High Performance Health Systems. I also think that the comparative studies supported by The Commonwealth Fund are very useful to clarify some aspects related with the quality of health services.

Andalucia is a region with 8 million inhabitants located in the south of Spain with a Regional Health Service quite similar in its conception to the NHS (universal coverage, free of charge for patients, 100% financed by taxes, based on primary care, with GP as a gatekeeper…).

Our regional Government has full responsibility on health care, and the health care budget for 2008 is close to 10,000 million euros.

The provision of health care services in my region is nearly 100% public, through a network of public hospitals (42) and primary care centres (1,400).

It is my responsibility to identify best practices in other countries, to learn about them and to compare and analyse quality, equity, accessibility and efficiency of our health care system related to others in the world in order to improve our policies and strategies.
